How to choose your first cosplay?

In this guide I will explain how to choose a simple characters to start and how not to start a project too complicated.

Please note this guide gives my opinion about the cosplay to avoid for a first convention, so this guide is subjective. Cosplay is above all a way to make yourself happy.

What you need

  • Paper and pencil(1)
  • Note application(1)

Steps

  1. 1

    Phase 1: Research

Choose one or more characters you would like to cosplayer. Compare the clothes, haircuts, makeup that will have to be made (and accessories if it seems important to you, for example: do you think if you make Tanjiro you would like the matching katana?) Everything is detailed in the next 4 steps.
  2. 2

    Step 1: Clothing

    - Avoids clothing not adapted to the climate (too hot in summer, too cold in winter) - sexy outfits or that cover the body (I do not recommend for the first time to avoid being malalise if you want to wear it in public) - the complex outfits to wear (so you can get up not too early on convention days) (or with a lot of things you could loseex: cosplay peoplehin impact) (the goal is not that you do a treasure hunt in the convention) - very large (e.g. large veil).
  3. 3

    Step 2: Hair

Some characters may have very complicated haircuts to reproduce with a wig. Too short cuts will leave your hair visible and the one too long you will bump. Cuts or hair are mostly up are very complex to do without experience (and I am stylized one myself) so I advise you to avoid them for the first time. Also avoid wig with very large haircuts (e.g., needy girl's kangel overdose)
  4. 4

    Step 3: Accessories

Accessories are additional elements to your cosplay, however certain may seem indispensable. Already avoid bulky objects like voluminous weapons, especially if you come alone to a convention (the best and to be able to have friends and or relatives to keep some of your things but respect the still are not your larbin). If it's an informed weapon you on the convention site or you want to go. They are generally prohibited.
  5. 5

    Step 4: Makeup

I think most cosplay people are girls and we're for some basic makeup. However, some makeup can be complicated without experience (e.g. Sukuna). Avoid characters who have a fancy complexion color (e.g. avatar characters) because it takes time and it takes makeup to avoid damaging your skin.
  6. 6

    Phase 2: Purchase or Manufacturing

If you have found several items I have not recommended, maybe you should put your cosplay projects aside to start with something simpler. Of course I know that we do not decide in advance to love a character, I just advise you to wait for a can to better succeed your cosplay afterwards. Now let's see how to find your cosplay
  7. 7

    Buy your cosplay

If you are new to the cosplay, know that it is not only on Amazon or Aliexpress that you can buy. There are specialized sites that will offer you prices either a little higher but in general for good quality, you find pre-made wigs*, shoes and even some accessories. I give you 2 sites but there are many others. Just look for the name of the pu character of the universe followed by ''cosplay'': Doki Doki cosplay and Gcosplay.
  8. 8

    Make your cosplay

The advantage of making its cosplay and looks like it with the character and the possibility of making a character that is not available for sale. However, it takes a lot of time and it costs a lot. If you did not know how to sew or craft, I advise you not to want to do your first cosplay yourself, and if you are not a handyman, do not start creating an optional element.
  9. 9

    Conclusion

If you've found several things I didn't recommend, maybe you should put your cosplay projects aside to start with something simpler or take your time and/or ask for help from a more experienced cosplayer in your surroundings. Of course I know that we do not decide in advance to love a character, I just advise you to wait for a can to better succeed your cosplay afterwards.
