How to make eyes for masks/fursuit without ruining in mesh?
For all people who lack the means for their cosplays! (I will add photos of the renderings for myself when I have time, the cosplays concerned are stored for the moment.)
What you need
- *Plastic pouches
- *Black felt
- *Hot glue
- Black tight
Steps
Visibility is an essential part of an integral mask.
This is a problem that I met late in my first full mask project: a Duolingo maque. But this is perhaps the most crucial element of such a project! Well, if you don't see anything with your mask, it's gonna be hard to wear it. The default solution is to use mesh for both eyes and fursuits. But it costs quite expensive without going through amazon or other online vendors. During my various mask projects, I therefore used two particularly economical and practical techniques. The ultimate rat technique: plastic pouches!
We all have plastic pouches in our house. And it is precisely the main element of our technique. You will need to equip yourself with a good black felt and a transparent plastic pouch (the clean one possible to not interfere too much with vision). You just have to color the pouch in black and cut in the shape of the pupils (in a little bigger to be able to stick them well on the sides of the eye). With white paper you can even come and stick white reflections if you like. This technique works very well at the level of vision (for testing in convention). The only problem is that the size of the eye should not be too big or you may be seen behind your eyes. That's why I have a second technique to make big eyes! For big black or colored eyes!
The key element of this second technique is an old tight, of the color of your choice. To ensure good visibility, two things must be done: - inner colouring in black if the pantyhose is not already black. I used to do it with felts and it works! -Think about pulling the fabric when you put it on your mask: the more the meshes will be stretched, the better your visibility. If you intend to draw elements on the pane, do so when it is stretched to prevent your design being distorted. .
