What you need
- *You, you(1)
Steps
- 1
Choose your convention
To be able to go to a convention, you have to choose one If you read this guide, I assume you have a Cosplan account. You can look in the Convention tab to see all the upcoming conventions! You can search the search bar for a particular convention or the city closest to you! My advice to choose your convention is to choose a step away from home, so you are not lost in the city, and that it takes place in more than 1-2 months (I will explain why later in the cosplay stage) - 2
Information on the Convention
Did you find your convention? Great! Now we have to find out! Normally, on the Cosplan page of the convention, there is a link to the convention website. But what do you need to know? Here is what to learn: -As said in the previous step, the place and dates, see if they match with the Cosplan -The price, even if in most conventions you can pay on the spot, most of the time, it is cheaper to pay online -Transport, if you don't come by car, see if the transport takes you in front of the convention and what the price of transport is -What you have the right to take away or not, to avoid being confiscated your business -And another!!! Also check, if you live away from the convention, whether there are places to eat (resto, doc, etc...) or places to sleep (hotel, airbnb, etc...) - 3
Prepare Cosplay (p1)
Just before you start, I'd like to say that you have the right to make any character, even if you don't have the same size, genre, weight or skin colour as the character, it doesn't have to stop you from doing so. If you read this guide, I assume you have a Cosplan account and you are interested in cosplay. That's why I offered you to take your agreement 1 to 2 months after your registration! First of all, you need to know which character you want Cosplay! Nothing simpler! Choose a character you like or find stylish You know what character to do? Now, let's look at the Cosplay guys - 4
Prepare Cosplay (p2)
There are 3 large types of cosplay: Handmade cosplay, Cosplay closet and Cosplay bought. Let me specify the 3: -The Handmade Cosplay is, as its name indicates, handmade. It's when you make your suit entirely or almost entirely from A to Z. It's the kind of cosplay that takes the most time but if you know how to sew well and you have everything at home, it's the cheapest type of cosplay (if you don't have anything, it'll cost you a lot) -The Cosplay closet is personally, the one that I use personally. It's when your costume is completely or almost entirely made with everyday clothes. The time to find the clothes can vary, between 2 minutes to a few hours. For the price, if it is a cosplay that requires little clothing or you already have everything at home, this is not very expensive but if you have to buy several clothes, it can quickly go up to 50-100€ - 5
Prepare Cosplay (p3)
-The purchased Cosplay is also, as its name indicates, purchased. This is when your cosplay is completely or almost entirely purchased. The time to find the costume, like the Cosplay Placard, can vary, from 2 minutes to a few hours. For the price it can also vary: •If you buy cosplay on sites like AliExpress, they are not expensive but they are not of good quality (except for wigs, I was very surprised) •If you buy cosplay from a professional, they are of very good quality but they are expensive Before you go to the next step, here's a tip: Don't buy your shoes or your used wigs!!! Even well washed, you have chances of catching lice (for wigs) or fungus (for shoes). If you want cheap ones, buy them on AliExpress (for wigs), on websites such as Amazon (for 2) or in the nearest clothing store (for shoes) - 6
Prepare Bag (p1)
That's it, tomorrow's your convention and you're looking forward to it! Now you have to prepare his bag! There is a lot of guidance that explains how to do it, but then what we are there, here are the things to put in his bag: -An insulated water gourd of less than one litre -Snacks and lunch box (it's expensive on site) -Her wallet and wallet (Species, blue card, etc.) - An emergency kit -Cosplay kit (Sewing kit, shoes, etc.) -External battery This is the most important things to take, but you can take other things like a sweater, a 3DS, etc. - 7
Prepare your bag (p2)
There are many things that are forbidden like: -Alcohol -Cylinders of more than 1L Bluetooth Speakers - Kitchen knives -Scissors White weapons -Some cameras -Animals (except assistance dog) -Too big bags (+of 24L) Selfie perch -Cask of Moto -Pyrotechnic product - Yeah. As said at the information stage, Check what you have the right to take away or not, to avoid being confiscated your business because prohibited and authorized things can change from one convention to another - 8
Go to its convention
This is the big day!!! But how to get there? -Already you can go on foot or by bike if you live next to the convention -You can drive if you live a little away and you have one. -Otherwise, there is one of the best friends and worst enemies of the cosplayer: Trains, trams and subways! In the step of intelligence, I had already said that, if you don't come by car, to see if the transport takes you before the convention and what the price of transport is. In many conventions, the tram passes before the convention, as in Bordeaux for example! On the other hand, if you are already in cosplay, you may not go unnoticed - 9
On site!!!
That's it, you've arrived!!! Here are my last tips: -Try to go buy things from the little designers and "avoid" to the big stand with the cousins Waifu (Perso, I call them the AliExpress stands). Even if it's a little expensive, it makes them live. And even, AliExpress stands do Dropshopping, which is a little illegal -If you see a Cosplay too beautiful and you want to take it in picture, go ask it before, already for the respect of its image and know if it will be taken in picture (and take pictures of people without their consent, it's illegal) -As said in the bag preparation stage, take your lunch box because meals on site are expensive and the queue can be very long. In addition, after finishing waiting for 2 hours in the line, it may no longer have what you want to eat at the base (feeling of already seen ) Now have fun!!! I say goodbye, and thank you for reading my guide
