Preparing for the Convention

How to prepare to go to convention in the best conditions when you're cosplayers.

Steps

  1. 1

    Pharmacy kit

Not always used but very appreciated, the pharmacy kit! And yes between wig, noise, light, lack of sleep, excitement of the event, it is very common headaches. Having a paracetamol can always help. Some dressings for bobos or bulbs. Toilet towels (even for your friends). Your medication every day if needed as well.
  2. 2

    Shoes

In your bag or car, plan a small pair of more comfortable shoes! Especially if you wear heels exceptionally for the event or Japanese sandals that are not at all comfortable. Going home will be much less painful.
  3. 3

    Little cakes

In your bag in addition to your meal, take some cakes and pancakes/sugar buys. Hypoglycemia quickly arrived and it can rot you during the day. (Many cosplayers don't eat at noon. Don't do that! The Cosplay yes but your health priority!)
  4. 4

    The Holy Coffee

Coffee thermos! If you drink it, it's always a calvary to find coffee in a convention and do more than 30 minutes of queue at the risk of getting pushed and breaking his cosplay it's not worth it. The thermos guarantees you to have it at hand and even share it with friends!
  5. 5

    Watch out for skirts

Unfortunately, some people who are ill-intentioned benefit from the conventions, where young participants are often found in revealing outfits. It is therefore important to remain vigilant. To avoid any unpleasant situation, we recommend wearing a shorty under your skirt or dress. #RWC
  6. 6

    Free Hug

Attention, although 'free Hugs' are an integral part of conventions and are often appreciated, it is important to remain vigilant. Some people ensure that this practice takes place in a respectful and secure environment, but sometimes others take advantage of it to adopt inappropriate behaviours. If someone touches you in a non-consented way, asks for a kiss or tries an interaction that you do not want, do not hesitate to say NO. If the person becomes insistent or invasive, get closer to security. They will help you manage the situation and prevent future recidivism.
  7. 7

    External battery

Fan of photos and videos? Need to drive home with the gps? Remember to take the external battery and/or cable for the car.
  8. 8

    Sewing kit

Always have a thread and needle with either in case the Cosplay elements break. A little strong glue small size too. Pins to nurse. If it's not for you, it'll be for others. Most conventions have Cosplay or Cospital repair stands. They are often cosplayer associations, they are very nice and will help you with all the cosplayer problems! Sometimes even they have quiet areas for people over-stimulated ect. Come on.
  9. 9

    Currency

We're way too much to use the blue card to go to convention and the finding is still the same.... We've exceeded the budget... Taking money avoids exceeding the budget because it is physically limited and we realize what we have already spent. Another benefit, small designers do not always take the card.
  10. 10

    The fragile make-up

Take something to do again, but be careful not to overload your bag! It will allow you to still be slay even after a big day of cosplay.
  11. 11

    Tickets

Buy tickets in advance allows you to pay less. Remember to take a screen from the screen to find the QR code that allows you to enter more easily.
  12. 12

    Meeting point

If you go in agreement with friends, plan a gathering point with specific hours or in case of dispersion. We don't always think about checking out the phone in convention and sometimes it's too late. Before the convention, talk. Maybe it's in front of a stand, a scene, the ect entrance. It'll avoid stress.
  13. 13

    What about your @?

In agreement, if you take a photo with someone or if you get along with someone, take are @! This could be the beginning of a nice friendship!
  14. 14

    Photos

As with inappropriate behaviour related to outfits, the majority of photographers are respectful. However, if a photographer makes you uncomfortable, disrespectful or takes inappropriate shooting angles, you have the right to refuse. Do not hesitate to report this type of behaviour to safety. Being in cosplay does not mean that you are an exhibition object, and your comfort must be a priority.
  15. 15

    Enjoy

Especially you have to have fun and remember that conventions are there to have a good time together! So enjoy and have fun!
  16. 16

    Bonus

Think about co-carrying to go to the event! It'll cost everyone less!
