The classics
When we talk about fabric purchases, we think straight away of the great classics: world fabrics, Ursula fabric, toto fabric to name only them. It works very well. The choice is relatively present, some will offer more or less certain varieties of fabrics and others will bet on others. They have a lot of physical stores and also online. It's really good, BUT! It's not always financially profitable and even on sale often it's not really the most interesting fabrics that are on sale... But they have at least this practical aspect. - 2
Most modest
Often the smaller fabric stores than large groups offer owl choices of different fabrics, with a little more risk taking on materials less sought after by the general public to the delight of cosplayers who like to vary materials and types of fabrics in sewing or craft. In addition it is sometimes advantageous in the price and also, we do not forget that it makes a small business and allows employees to work in an environment they love! You can find them everywhere, just go on Google Map, type "Tabric Store" click on nearby and here you are near you! - 3
Deco shop
The decoration shops of the Centrakor style or discount decor (to mention only them) sometimes sell fabrics for not too expensive and the fabrics are fairly often entitled to promos. The advantage of these stores is that we can find and nice cottonnades but also very thick fabrics see a lot of simili. - 4
Online Part 1
All department stores of fabrics, including those listed in Part 1. We have their own online shop. We find a lot of online shops in a few clicks (but be careful, always ask friends if they have already ordered them, avoid scams). It has the advantage of avoiding getting out of your home and having a TRES wide choice of fabrics at all prices. Nevertheless, the big flat is that one cannot touch the fabric, see transparency, see the fall, the color can also fluctuate. For clothing or creation it may be ok, but most of us want to be as fair as possible in the reference and it can result in an extra cost because we have to buy the fabric... Or not being very fair to the ref. - 5
Online Part 2
Some sites that I still recommend and that I have for the most part tried: the coupons of saint stone (Very big choice, small price, but often order that by 3m coupon, recommend +++ if you like to order online). Lionel fabric (a rather nice choice, a lot of duchess satin, low density Eva foam). Aliexpress (and yes they sell fabrics there, but I prefer to avoid much for ecology and everything that follows it but it must not be denied that the choice of fabric is huge and at very low prices even if the quality is not always very crazy... It remains very interesting). There's still a multitude of them, but I'll let you make your choice. - 6
Resoucerie/Emmaüs
Yes! Resourcing, Emmaus and other similar stores almost all have textile, sewing or mercery corners. Sometimes people get rid of little nuggets! I'm telling you, 2€ a 1-metre pink crepe coupon is a pleasure. Or 5€ the 3m of linen to make a cloth of a garment is really nice. - 7
Empty attic
Empty attics is not an exact science and you have to know how to negotiate often, but sometimes there may be small nuggets of tissue that hide in a corner and nobody wants. In any case, it is much underestimated, as well for the sewing material of the grandmother that no one wants. - 8
Second hand
The second hand can also help find fabrics! This friend cosplayers or this aunt who makes sewing, they only need 1 st and they saw too wide and they have too much fabric, recovered it for this project that needed the same fabric! It's a winner! Similarly, if you have a hanging fabric, give it or sell it! But how can I sell it? It's very simple... Resale sites! Vinted is THE great friend of the cosplayers, but also for sewing! Yes! So much for buying or selling! But it's not just him as a site, I think of the right corner, market place or sewtoo. Let's talk about sewtoo, it's a website dedicated to fabrics and mercery, see the patterns ect. Treees practical but not yet sufficiently exploited and sellers are not all very active but test on your side. - 9
Woven fabrics and other
So... We're cosplayers. It is synonymous with: person who recovers everything and anything for craft. That's right. And I'll even add that a fabric, it remains a fabric. Don't you understand my point? Well, this curtain with perfect colors that drags to the attic, that cushion holed with the texture of the bracelet you need to sew, that pattern on this t-shirt that would make a great piece on the outfit. TAKE THEM! It's still fabric! Recycle thoroughly! And it's worth all the steps mentioned before: attic vacuum, refreshment, friperies, ect. At the fabric store, do not limit yourself to clothing fabric, the furniture fabric is perfect! They're costumes, we won't wear them all our lives. - 10
Online custom
You really start to become good in craft but you remain limited in your choice of fabric, the modifs do not suit you, you need THE fabric... Get out the drawing software, it's your time! And yes, there are companies that can print your model on demand! These are textile printers, we find them online and for cosplayers or creators, it is blessed bread! It remains relatively expensive to produce but honestly I've already tried, it's very qualitative! (Note: I placed an order on CottonBee, but there are plenty of other sites. And tricks, they often have fabric testers to order for free or for three times nothing. It helps to better visualize textures. ) - 11
In summary
There are a multitude of ways to get tissue and I've probably forgotten a lot of things even though I tried to talk a lot about methods. There are all kinds of prices too but don't forget that we should not over-consumer, be responsible for your purchases and I hope that this concept has been helpful to you! United - 12
Bonus
Make your fabric hand?! It's very hideous and incongruous, but it's possible! All you have to do is start weaving with a loom. It sounds stupid, but as a personal matter, it will be my next big challenge in cosplay: weaving my own fabric.
